Falling a bit behind

A new cockatiel

Hi all,

I spent most of today in Nashville, and one of my stops was a caged bird fair. My mission to find a new cockatiel for my dad. I came home with this little guy.

His name is Teukie. He's a Lutino and somewhere between 9 and 11 months old. He's been very quiet since we brought him home as in he hasn't made a single sound. He's parent-raised and not tame. I have a band-aid around my finger to vouch for that.

Also, the breeder said something about putting chapstick or vaseline around his eyes? Said it was common in Lutinos. I couldn't fully hear him because of a screeching macaw, a thick accent, and a tendency to mumble. I think perhaps Teukie may have some sort of facial mite. I'll have to look closely at his eyes tomorrow.

It's happy and strange having a new bird in the house. It's going to take a lot to remember that Teukie isn't Gabby. Hopefully we'll all get used to each other soon.

Bird watching - what's the trick?

Okay, so! I've been regularly "playing" seed ponies for at least 5 years. Yet every time I do a jungle tour (usually every 2 weeks give or take a few days), I have never seen a bird. Not one. And I assure you I click around a good bit! Sometimes the entire half hour allowed.

So when I see greenhouses stuffed to the gills with bird photos, I can't understand how y'all acquire so many. 5+ years on seed ponies and not one bird sighted? That's more than a bad streak of luck, in my humble opinion. I must be doing something wrong. Or perhaps there's a "trade secret" I'm not aware of.

Can anyone help a girl out here? What do you guys do (or not do) to find birds? I'm really at a loss.

No growth 13 April-15 April (out of town)

Hey all!
I will be out of town going to a wedding, so there will be no growth updates from the 13th of April to the 15th of April. I might squeeze it in on the 15th when I get back, but if not, growth will resume on Monday the 16th.

Maybe next weekend I'll get a stay-at-home and relax sort of weekend.

what do your seeds mean to you?

Over the years I have come to view seedponies as a way to relax. A little piece of enjoyment carved out of cyberspace so that when things get too stressful I have something to do to have fun.

I love the artwork and the enjoyment I get from watching seeds grow, Mana's talented designs, and the interactions with people. On top of this I have certain seeds that are a bit extra special to me.

I know other people have extra special seeds and I was wondering what there stories were. Or even if you just have an idea of what an extra special seed would be to you.

My extra special seeds:

Jay is my bluejay mimic birdbuddy. I have always loved bluejays and they have become a calling card for me. I love that they are beautiful but that they are also scrappy and able to exert themselves. I've always had a problem with being a doormat so when I need inspiration I look at my Jays.

She represents my friendship with Vanyel. Enough said lol.

Xar was one of my first seeds, but that isn't what makes him special. It is his doggie friend. Fable was my dog for a few short years and I miss him very much. Xar and Fable represent all the lost friendships in my life.

I've always loved the triceratops dinosaur so equitops have long been my favorite breed of seedponies. But Xenon has a special place in my heart and stands as a reminder to myself to work hard and not give up. As her name suggests I use this reminder a lot in my studies. I've been working on my degrees for 11 years an sometimes it is hard to see the end and it is easy to loose hope.

I am sad to say that in a short while I will no longer be able to post on the forum.

You see, I am obsessed with Equitops, they are my passion in seedies. I have had the joy of being an equitops (points to forum ranking), but sadly when I hit 600 posts I will become a stegron.

Finally, they time has come! The pot is prepared, the seed is born, the fertilizers have been applied!

Now to begin the process of gazing at the seed longingly. Soon, soon my precious seed shall sprout...

As a side note:we had bare ground yesterday, this happened overnight. I think this is why coloring the easter eggs was invented, so they could be found in the snow.

Blue Feather For Yellow Feather?

After wading through the ciada-fig fest in the jungle, I found a fern fiddlehead and am 1 ingredient away from mixing my first fert! The crespula hair is my favorite mutation on these guys, so I was wondering if anyone would be willing to swap their yellow feather for my blue feather.

Though since that doesn't seem very likely, I'm also looking for peacock plant leaves and will trade one of my common ingredients for it (excluding the ones I need to mix the male fert).
